Frequently asked questions
FAQ's
I've never been to counselling before. What should I expect?
There are many assumptions that people make about counselling and the truth is that every counsellor is different so you won't get the same experience every time. What it SHOULD be is a relaxed comfortable place where you can talk about anything that is bothering you, no matter how big or small.
I'd like to dispel some myths to reassure you:
* You DON'T need to have a mental health diagnosis; everyone is welcome
* A counsellor isn't there to give advice, but to help you make your own decisions.
What type of issues do you support:
You're free to talk about anything that's troubling you, but I am trained to support a variety of issues including:

* Depression
* Anxiety
* Stress
* Suicidal thoughts
* Grief/Loss
* Self-esteem
* Addiction
* Physical/emotional abuse
* Eating disorders
* Bipolar Disorder
* EUPD/BPD (Personality Disorders)
* Anger management
* ADHD
* Hoarding
* PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder)
* Complex PTSD
I may provide referrals to a specialist in cases that are beyond my expertise, but ALWAYS with your permission.

How many sessions do I need?
I always recommend around 6-10 sessions to start with. You may feel you don't need any more than this, and that is something you can decide on as we go along. The power is in your hands so if you feel ready to end therapy, it's probably a good sign that you're feeling more confident in yourself and ready to go it alone!
How do I pay for sessions?
BACS transfer at the beginning, or end of each weekly session is usually the easiest way, but I'm happy to discuss other options such as Standing order, Paypal etc.if that option suits you better.
